Team Switzerland selection is a special moment

18 September

I’ve always been proud to be from Switzerland – and it’s been an honour to fly the flag for my country when I’ve raced in Europe. So, when I recently found out I’d been selected to race for Team Switzerland at the FIA Motorsport Games, I was very, very happy!

The Motorsport Games runs from 23-27 October and is regarded as the ‘Olympic Games of motorsport’. Different countries race against each other in various categories and the idea is to score points for your country and try to win either a bronze, silver or gold medal.

I’m the only junior kart racer on the Swiss team and I’ll travel to Valencia in Spain at the end of October to compete in the competition. I think I was selected by Auto Sport Swiss because I only need one more point to be a three-time Swiss karting champion. It’s definitely nice to be recognised for my achievements so I thank the governing body of Swiss motorsport for this honour.

The karting element of the Motorsport Games has an ‘academy’ format which means the organisers provide each driver in my junior category with an OKJ kart and engineer. It’s their way of making the competition equal.

The good news is that I’ve driven at the Kartodromo Internacional Lucas Guerrero in Valancia a few times already. I went there in Champions of the Future earlier this season and I’ve also been there for some winter testing with my Kartbox team from Switzerland. It’s a track I know quite well, so that gives me a bit of confidence.

I really don’t know what the competition will be like, but as there will be lots of other European drivers in my category, my expectation is that the races will be pretty tough. But that’s part of the challenge for me – challenging myself and trying to beat the best drivers around me.

My form in 2024 has been good so I hope I can arrive in Valencia in a strong position and do my absolute best for Switzerland. If you win a medal at the FIA Motorsport Games, it brings a lot of good attention from the world of motorsport. That’s an exciting prospect and something that I’ll use to drive me forward in Spain.
